WDCC The Hundred Preview

Cricket’s newest format has been launched in England, with The Hundred getting underway last Thursday.

The Hundred features several changes from cricket’s traditional formats, such as a team’s innings lasting for 100 balls and bowlers being able to bowl 5 or 10 ball overs.

Liam Livingstone, on the back of some impressive performances for England in their T20i series against Pakistan, will feature for Birmingham Phoenix. Livingstone was the Phoenix’s first pick in the player draft held nearly two years ago.

Livingstone, part of England’s ODI squad that was forced into 10 days isolation after being deemed close contacts of a COVID-19 case, told ESPNCricinfo “I’ve probably never had a better week in my career… and I’m looking forward to taking that confidence into The Hundred”.

D’Arcy Short is contracted to Trent Rockets, led by England Test captain Joe Root. Short had been representing Hampshire in the T20 Blast, making 69 in his most recent hit-out against Glamorgan.
