Matthew Johnston Signs with the Western Warriors for 2010/11

Outstanding Willetton All-Rounder Matthew Johnston was today signed on a full contract with the Retravision Warriors.

It is understood that Mickey Arthurs was very keen to have Johnston added to the squad as he had previously seen him scoring 90 against the full strength South African bowling line-up. 2009/10 season had been an outstanding one for Johnston winning numerous awards including the Olli Cooley medal, media writers cricket of the year, a 4th Willetton District club “club champion” award and Bowling aggregate amongst others. Making his first class debut in the final shield match of the season he scored 44 and took 1-18 in one of the few wins for the Warriors this season.

For all of us in the club who have seen the up’s and downs that Mathew has endured over the past year or so the we are sure that everyone involved is over the moon with his selection and wish him the best for season 2010/11.
