The Under 13’S team won the Inverarity Shield for 2009/10 defeating Midland Guildford convincingly at Tomkins Park.
Losing the toss and bowling first Midland were 0-30 off 13 over’s and looking very solid, enter our spin Twins Connor Wall and Josh Brown, Connor wall continued his outstanding season with the ball to destroy Midland’s batting line up with 5-23 off 8 over’s, bowling in tandem with Josh Brown (1-17 off 8 over’s), the pair took 21 wickets and 13 wickets between them for the season and they curbed the scoring in the middle period to take 6-40 off 16 over’s. Vidit Vashisht also continued his outstanding finals series taking 1-8 off 8 over’s replicating his semi final performance of a run an over and a wicket giving him 11 wickets for the season. Cam becker took the final wicket taking 1-15 of 3.2 over’s and 1-30 in the semi final finishing the season with 9 wickets. Ravi Gunaratne took 1- 13 finishing with 10 for the season and Ellis Cassidy whose role should not be under estimated had 0-7 and 0-8 from his 8 over’s in finals bowling tight lines. Midland were bowled out for 89 in the 39th over.
The run chase was off to a flier with Ben McAullay hitting Midland’s quick for 2 boundaries in his first over, making a well compiled 19, his outstanding season finishing with 277 runs. Josh Brown was caught down leg side, Kristian Morisey was unluckily out and Willetton were 3-35 off 12 over’s. Enter young 11 year old Captain Aaron Hardie and Ravi Gunaratne the pair put on 54 to steer Willetton home in the 27th over, Hardie out for 19 with 1 run to win and Ravi 31 not out.
Hardie finishing the year with 189 runs, Morisey 91 runs, Ravi Gunaratne 94 runs and Josh Brown 72 runs.
Another outstanding season was had by Wicket-keeper Cooper Isailovic taking his stumpings tally to 12 and not conceding a bye in the Grand Final.
A great year capped off with a Premiership by this very young side well done.
